Spin Evolution of Stellar-mass Black Holes Embedded in AGN Disks: Orbital Eccentricity Produces Retrograde Circumstellar Flows

نویسندگان

چکیده

Spin evolution of stellar-mass Black Holes (sBHs) embedded in AGN accretion disks is an important process relevant to production gravitaional waves from binary Hole (BBH) merger events through the channel. Since sBHs are surrounded by circum-stellar (CSDs), rotation CSD gas flows determine direction angular momentum it accretes. In this Letter, we use global 2D hydrodynamic simulations show that while a disk-embedded sBH on circular orbit transforms initial retrograde Keplerian shear background disk into prograde flow, as classical picture companion-disk interaction theory, moderate orbital eccentricity could disrupt steady-state tidal perturbation and preserve flow around sBH. This switch orientation occurs at transition scales nearly proportional with local sound speed. bifurcation thereafter spin-up SBHs leads formation population anti-aligned should be incorporated future models BBH evolutions.

Accretion flows around stellar mass black holes and neutron stars

In this review, I summarize the main X-ray/hard X-ray properties of the accretion flows around black holes and neutron stars based on recent broad-band spectral and timing observations performed by the BeppoSAX and Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer satellites. Emphasizing the spectral and timing similarities observed between black holes and neutron stars, I discuss on the most likely accretion geomet...

Mergers of accreting stellar-mass black holes

We present post-Newtonian N -body simulations on mergers of accreting stellarmass black holes (BHs), where such general relativistic effects as the pericentre shift and gravitational wave emission are taken into consideration. To elucidate the key physics that regulates mergers of BHs, the dynamical friction and the mass accretion by ambient gas are incorporated. We consider a system composed o...

The Mass Distribution of Stellar Black Holes

We examine the distribution of masses of black holes in transient low mass X-ray binary systems. A Bayesian analysis suggests that it is probable that six of the seven systems with measured mass functions have black hole masses clustered near seven solar masses. There appears to be a significant gap between the masses of these systems and those of the observed neutron stars. The remaining sourc...

Intermediate mass black holes in AGN disks II. Model predictions and observational constraints

If intermediate mass black holes (IMBHs) grow efficiently in gas disks around supermassive black holes, their host active galactic nucleus (AGN) disks should exhibit myriad observational signatures. Gap-opening IMBHs in AGN disks can exhibit spectral features and variability analagous to gapped protoplanetary disks. A gap-opening IMBH in the innermost disk imprints ripples and oscillations on t...

Three-layered atmospheric structure in accretion disks around stellar-mass black holes

Modeling of the x-ray spectra of the Galactic superluminal jet sources GRS 1915+105 and GRO J1655-40 reveals a three-layered atmospheric structure in the inner region of their accretion disks. Above the cold and optically thick disk with a temperature of 0.2 to 0.5 kiloelectron volts, there is a warm layer with a temperature of 1.0 to 1.5 kiloelectron volts and an optical depth around 10. Somet...
